I finally got lazy and ordered the upgrade kit here: https://www.opennrg.com/product/lee-4-20-furnace-pot-upgrade-kit/

However, never being satisfied I added to it.

............. I've had a couple of the Lee 20# pots. They did a fantastic job, especially for the money.

nice modification, thanks for sharing. I just wish I could justify an upgrade that costs more than the pot did. Although, the kit looks to be worth every penny and a lot more.

Worth every dime to me. I almost made one myself, glad I refrained from the headache!

Also working on the handle mod. I forget where I saw it but I used a spare chronograph rod. Cut to length, threaded and bam! It does work but not as good as a better pot! I also shortened the handle throw so it slows down the pour rate.

It only drips when a little trash gets in the spout. A few turns of the plunger and it cleans up pretty good.

My Lee 4-20 pot is over 12 years old. I removed the adjustment screw and threaded the valve rod. I added a through-rod, threaded each end and added a return spring. It works great! Nearly no drips at all.
My aviation friends might know what the brass fitting is from.
