Our rifle season opens next weekend, not tomorrow, and I will be doe hunting, the wife either sex, as I have already filled my buck tag. I will be hunting with some 130+ year old rolling blocks, iron sights, and 150 yds in shots.

Season starts tomorrow morning here. I'll sit in the blind with the 30-40, and still hunt at midday with the 38-55 because it's two pounds lighter....almost shorts and tee shirt weather by then.

Powder coated 275 gr. over 12 of HS-6. Deployed a ground blind today above a nice trail. Nice area with some friends hunting close by.

42 here in South Central Texas. 6.8 ARP is weapon of choice. Jacketed. Up now getting my first cup. 5:10 AM and sunrise by 7ish. Good luck and be safe out there.

Was 43 when I got to the blind. Stayed in it for 6-1/2 hours but saw no deer. Insufficient scouting.......

What calaber is the rolling blocks? I have several rolling block rifles. Cals are 43 Spa ish, 45/70 and 7 mm Mauser.
