Cerrosafe is the go to for almost everyone.
But some have used wax, sulfur, and probably other stuff.
I'm looking for the other stuff.
Not looking to get the exact dimensions.
Just an idea what is where.
I've been thinking about hard wax with some fine sand mixed in.
Not interested in trying sulfur.
I do have some Crerrosafe.

If you have cerrosafe why are you looking for other stuff?

Unless you're dealing with a unknown caliber or something-
Wouldn't a fired brass work for ya?

Forget the wax and sand anywhere near a finished (chambered) barrel.

Just go with straight Gulf Wax Paraffin ... it's about the hardest wax you can get easily .
No need for sand ... that may not do anything good .

I have read or thought of, don't remember which, of using silicone RTV in a well oiled chamber. Might need a spring or wire imbedded so you can get it out in one piece.

Don't know how long it would take to cure, but the nozzles on the tubes solidify pretty well.

Cerrosafe isn't all that expensive and is reusable.

Agreed...... And a proven process and track record for being accurate. In a pursuit where thousandths matter, it seems like a no brainer to me...

I do have some.
Have used it before.
Makes a very accurate cast.
Don't need it that close, so I thought of trying something easier.
