View Full Version : Clip on wheel weight alloy mix ?

If a guy wanted to mix an alloy roughly the same as clip on wheel weights what would y'all reccomed as far as lead tin antimony ect.

1/2/97 or 2/2/96 should get you there. By the way, really enjoy your stories and experimenting. Especially the crow story and 223 casting and shooting.

start plugging options in here until to get where you want to be. use the drop downs and select COWW or other near options. I can't say if the ratios match COWW for this moment in time, nor do I know when this thing was created, but it works for me, just gotta keep adding n subtracting components as needed.

In days/years past, COWW was for an average 1/2 percent tin and antimony was between 3 and 4 percent. I have read that there were some that measured as much as 7 percent antimony but I have never seen or tested any of those.
My personal alloy was built based on .5/3% assumption and I added pure tin and superhard to bring it to a little over 2% tin and 4% antimony. This alloy does everything I want very well except hollowpoints and round/flat nose that I want to roll back and I use 20:1 for those. Two alloys keep my life simple and I haven't had a need for anything else.
