I was out riding over at the Neighbors field where I deer hunt, checking the trail camera on my 4 wheeler, as I drove by another field of his, that backs up to my field, with his belt of woods on the propterty line. I saw a flock of turkeys heading across his field and I thought, those suckers are heading towards my food plot, an fall shotgun season is open. I flew home, grabbed my 870 12G. and went over my field, boogity boogity as Jerry Clower used to say. I got in the blind, an not 10 minutes later, I hear Turkeys coming. Sure enough they start appearing in front of me, I thought I saw 8-10 birds in the flock. Wrong! I ended up with 21 hen turkeys in my food plot/turnip green patch. I waited till they started actually moving off, so I could move without getting busted, lined up the bead on a big ole fat hen at 20yds, and at the shot she crumpled up, DRT. I got out of the blind, pegged over to her on my crutches, picked her up and pitched her over to the 4 wheeler. I got back to the house and boned her out, got it marinating in Italian dressing and soy sauce till supper tommorow, cut up in finger size strips. Dredge in corn meal and flour and sprinkled with Cavenders greek seasoning, 5 minutes in the deep fryer and it will melt in your mouth. Here in KY, we can kil 2 Turkeys in the fall season, and hens are legal.God has blessed me again, to bring some game home, in spite of my handicaps. Just thought I would share.

nice bird! I wish hens were legal in Ala. I bet they are better eating than a gobbler. I mean, we don't eat roosters (domestic). Gobblers are good tho...
