I was recently given a 450 frame by a member here, and the 450’s seem to have an almost cult like following of people who don’t like the “slop” in the 550 removable toolhead. Called Dillon to order the needed parts and was advised to buy a 550 instead as it would be cheaper than rebuilding the 450. Does anyone know of another source for 450 parts? I have multiple powder measures and can prime off the press, so really only need the ram components and the linkage system. Thought I would ask before calling Dillon again.

Wow! I just reconditioned a rusty mess of RL 450. I'm currently acquiring parts from different members here. Its coming together slowly.

I finally got a 550 after years of using my 450. I took care of the 550 die plate slop by means of the mods offered by UniqueTek to screw the plate in place:

https://uniquetek.com/product/T1230

This works perfectly and is easy to install. Sent the 450 to Dillon for refurbishment and planned to sell it. Then I got into cowboy action competition and wanted a press set up for 45 Colt. So, I kept the 450 for that purpose.

Any objection to slop in the 550 is entirely remedied by use of the UniqueTek Toolhead Clamp Kit. They also offer new CNC made tool heads already tapped for the clamp screws.

Look up member Alverez Kelly on this forum. He deals in used Dillons.
