I got 2 calls from "Amazon" that my purchase did not go through and to press 1 for help.

I did not buy anything from Amazon in the last month and it was obviously a scam. The voice was digitally altered.

I tried to report it to Amazon and they have a web page devoted to fraud but no way to report it.

I get those, too. The version I've heard (on a voicemail message) says I ordered some expensive bauble, which will be delivered to me if I do nothing, but to respond if I did not place the order. Natch, they'll want 'confirmation' of my payment details.

Thanks Mal for the heads up about this scam. It is awful that with all else we have to be concerned about that we have to be constantly on guard for this type of "business".

I got two of them. Reported to Amazon. They said there's not much they can do. Got some emails. They had me forward them to their fraud dept. Didn't hear anything back.

Blame your phone company they allow the system to be spoofed.

Got one that said there was a 700 dollar charged to my Amazon card. Called the card company instead if pressing 1 and they said it was a fraud attempt.

$700, is that all, I was owed over & $1000. I don't have an Amazon account. Never had one.

My wife got 2 of those, first one was for 1200$. Thankfully she hung up on both. I checked both Amazon and our bank, nothing like that in the works. They are fishing with bad bait.

I've a phone with 601 area code and live in 479. If I get a 601 call that is unknown to me, it is ignored. I don't get 479 calls from unknowns, nor spam calls. Makes it easy to ignore 99% of the spam.

I like those calls.
I tell them I already have the package. THat I really like it. And I thank them for the excellent service
When they ask for credit card information I tell them it is on the invoice for the purchase and it was taken from the card when I made the purchase.
If they press me for the number, I tell them the card belongs to a friend and I given them the number of the local police station where the friend works

SWMBO tells them she has a 1955 Mercedes 300SL. The only thing she has from 1955 is me. ;)

I'm getting these calls from toll-free numbers. Not too far off from the one our maintenance medication pharmacy uses. So I usually let them go to voice mail. If they don't leave voice mail, I do not call back...

Answer with “ what can I do for ya?? “ their machines are programmed for “ hello, yes, no ,ok,right, correct ,” anything else it throws them off! IF I answer the phone, I just have fun with them! This is “ Jordan” from DirectTv, do you have DirectTv, do you have your tv on now? Turn tv on now! Go to channel whatever, we will check your receiver for free! Nope, not gonna do it, pal. They try, one more time, usually with more insistence, that’s when I start laughing, and say you guys are pathetic! Had one guy cuss me out, threatened to do vile things to my mother, let him rant, then told him he was a sick bastard, and hung the phone up.

It is getting so bad in my office that i do not answer if I don't get an ID and number that i recognize. I can get 10-20 of these calls every day.
If I don't recognize or the number doesn't ID and I recognize the name, it goes to voice mail. 9 times out of 10 there is no message.
I blame the phone companies that cannot seem to stop the spoofing of phone numbers.

We just got an e-mail from Amazon (? whether it is or not) - it wanted us to take a quick 5 question customer survey and if we did, we could get Prime Shipping "free" for a year. I told my wife to delete it. If it was a legitimate e-mail - my guess is that if ir a person takes the survey, then they "might" (if legitimate) get Prime free but you would have to sign up for their Amazon Credit Card - no thanks.

If the e-mail was not legit . . then I would imagine that they wold be asking for you personal information.

That's a nice thing about a coamsputer - it has a DELETE button!
