I target shoot with my own cast lead 175 gr. SWC boolits and Unique. Excellent results. I also use Unique with all of my other magnum cartridges. Unique has been hard to find, but I did acquire a good supply of W231 / HP38, and have worked up loads for all of my other revolvers that use Unique. My issue is that I cannot find any data for 175 gr. boolits in a .41.

Any suggestions?

Use the data for the 210gr bullet and work it up, if needed. A 175 gr bullet would be handy for daily use in the .41 magnum. I've been looking for an old Lee 175gr .41 AE bullet mould, but no luck so far.

I use 7.0/231 with 210s and 8.0 with 200 and lighter.... 210s run around 900 and the lighter ones upper 900s depending on the weight.

For target loads which run at lower than max pressures anyway, 1.0 gr less of 231 than Unique will produce excellent loads.

1.0 grain less was going to be my starting point.

The Lee 175 .41 AE mold is what I have. Been using it for over 25 years now.

Thanks to all for their comments.

Those 41's are hard to come by these days. Strange that Ruger does not resurrect the cartridge. Freedom Arms, but three grand?

In my Ruger Bisley with 7 1/2" barrel the Old Lee TL410-175-SWC seated and very mildly roll crimped in the top lube groove runs 925 fps with excellent accuracy over 5 gr of Bullseye.

In my Ruger 4-5/8" bbl'd BH 3-screw, 6.7 to 7.0 gr of Win 231 or HP-38 gives me 1-1/2" to 2" gps at 25 yd from rest. Bullet is the RCBS 41-215, or Lyman's 410459 sized to 0.411", ACWW alloy & 50-50 lube. While these are heavier, similar loads with a lighter bullet would be safe in any .41 Mag. BTW, 6.7 gr gives me 966 fps with an ES of 33 over my chrono & are my everyday loads in the gun mentioned as well as a 6" M57 Smith & a Ruger NM Flat Top with a 6-1/2" bbl.

Best Regards, Rod

H110, 2400, Bullseye and 210 grain boolits don't meet the thread's requirements.

You didn't say what 175 gr bullet?.

221/BP38 are close to Bullseye in burn rate and charge weight. Try 5 gr and tweak +/- to suit your wants.....

I did - see post #5.

I used Bullseye eons ago at a 6.5 grain charge, so 5.0 would be quite mild. 6.3 would be a previous poster's suggestion, so maybe I'll try half way in between.

Why not try 5 gr, half way in between and 6.3 gr?
