So I just Thursday got my Sea Service Pistol, a mice handsome firelock, and suddenly every seller of appropriate moulds is fresh out of the things. Did some movie come out and suddenly everyone wanted one? Everywhere I've looked is exorbitantly overpriced or must be imported. Is there anywhere anyone here would send me to acquire an appropriate mould?

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, Carrie. Lots of stuff you'd never think there would be a shortage of is scarce as hens teeth. Wish I had an answer for you.

some things are just as rare as rocking horse poop. I don't think that movie houses are ordering molds for there weapons' / props?

so . . . . exactly what are you looking for to fit the pistol?

.60 molds have always been hard to come by. I got mine from Tanner Molds. They are in England, but I had faster delivery from them than some US suppliers.

Actually found a .595 diameter Lyman / Ideal mold.
What a treasure!

I bought a Lee .60 mold for my .61 Renegade that I had made by Hoyt out of a .56 SB barrel that I wasn't using.
That was over a year ago , so the molds may not be in stock because of shortages in our hobby in general.

I did some checking and both Midway and Titan Reloading where I got my mold both show out of stock

I just checked Tanner's stuff. Nice things but ultimately only had one available mold.
Bedbug, that's right I'm looking for 60 caliber or 58 caliber round ball. Something that plays nice with my .62 bore firelock. Preferably with a paper cartridge involved.

Carrie450 - wasn't sure what your bore size was on your particular firearm.

I use both a .600 and a .610 in my Fisil-de-Chasse. (,620 bore Cilrain barrel). I have molds I'd be happy to lone you, but unfortunately they are in Michigan and we just arrived in Arizona yesterday and will be here until the end of April.

I checked what I have here in AZ but all are too big, being as they are for my .69 Model 1842 Macon Rifle. I'll keep my eyes open and if I run across a .600 or .610 I'll PM you. In the meantime - maybe put a Want To But in the WTS?WTS section and maybe someone has on laying around collecting dust. Check the rules in the WTS?WTS section - IIRC you need at least 30 posts in order to post a WTB or WTS ad.

You might check Track of the Wolf - they might have balls available until you can find a mold.

Don’t hesitate to buy something from overseas, unless it is China. In this day and age, overseas shipping can be as fast as domestic and not that expensive. Vendors overseas know they have a good market in the US and do their best to ship as soon as possible.

You may want to re-check that, as they used to cut to any diameter you want. I've got both .595 and .600 from them

I appreciate your offer. As much as I wanted to put up a WTB ad by the way I checked the rules beforehand. I don't quite qualify yet, as I require thirty meaningful posts first.
I had also checked Track of the Wolf quite a lot. I saw their molds and the balls, so that may have to be what I do.

Let me clear this. You say Tanner Moulds, do you mean BallMoulds? My search for Tanner Moulds showed a nearly empty ebay page and BallMoulds.

That's it, I'd forgot the old man died or retired, and his kid took over the operation.
