Hello all. Long time lurker here but this is my first post. I have 3 hawken rifles currently (2 54s and a 50) trying to find a 45 and some small caliber senecas. Trying to get back into muzzleloading in the more traditional sense. I would love to get pictures and loads people are using in these!
I'm wanting to stretch these out a bit and challenge myself. As well as hunt with them.
Love learning as much as I can about these rifles and what is possible with them as well as the accessories availability.

Welcome to the Forum Denney84.
I like the TC .45 cal. Rifles and have two.
In fact , I am going to send one of the barrels to Bob Hoyt to be Relined or Refreshed since it was a poorly maintained Kit that someone had built.
But it is well worth reworking and getting it in pristine condition.
In fact.
If I have the barrel Relined , I will probably have it Relined to .45 with a 1-66 slower twist for shooting Round Balls only.

Welcome to the board !

My .45 Seneca (below, atop my .36 Seneca) has performed very well on deer for the past 40 years with T/C Maxi-Hunter conicals over 70gr FFFg

I recommend going to the Goex website and printing the loads they list. I assume your using real black. Try different patch thicknesses and loads. Retrieve the patches to make sure they are holding up and doing there part. Peep sights are my recommendation for accessories to keep it traditional. Obviously you’ll want round ball molds and some conicals as well. Watch the forum and other auction sites for deals that come along on molds.

What are you hunting with a .32 rb. that needs “50 grains of 3f”??? 10-25 is MORE than enough for a squirrel [emoji883] or rabbit [emoji235] !

Those are FACTORY recommendations, not mine.

My Cherokee seems to have a pretty fast twist and won't group very well with more than 15 grains of powder anyhow. I think they made them that way so they would shoot maxi balls as well. My Dixie longrifle needs 35 grains to work right, much slower twist.
