Was sitting in the woods this morning bow hunting or amusing the squirrels depending on your point of view.

Noticed this neat old white oak.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211020/2053f9cade6594b3b5ec3ecf04d1c78e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211020/f8115d7d06b7eb173956c58c32503d23.jpg

That is one neat tree . . . and to think it all started as an acorn - probably "planted" as a part of a stash by the ancestors of the squirrels that were checking you out! Nothing like time in the woods to sit and be able to really take a good look at what surrounds you. Thanks for the post - love seeing pictures of interesting trees!

The two trunks that have grown into each other are neat!

There are a lot of whisky barrels there.

Looks like one of the ones in my back yard! The squirrels love the trees. Lot of them in our neighborhood. Red and white oak and a few maples. Plus fig trees and persimmons (Japanese and a new variety of the American as well) and others as well.

Looks to be dead or dying, at least on my tablet. I don’t have much experience with white oaks but when red oaks look like that the heart wood has usually become a carpenter ant community.
