I bought a brand new mold off ebay that unfortunately is gas checked, I prefer non checked designs but you will settle when there is not a mold to be found.

My experience with gas checks is 30 caliber horandy, I hear there are multiple styles of gas checks certain bullets like press on and gator bites could some one explain that please?

Can anyone with experience recommended a gas check that will fit this bollit please?

Thanks alot

You will need to provide the mold Brand and model Number on your mold to get a good discussion and recommendations.

http://https://bayoubrassandammo.com/shop/ols/products/copper-gas-checks/v/CPP-GAS-CHC-100-X4I recently cast some of this exact bullet for a friend. His mold was also a gas check mold. You want 500 s&w checks. I used gators and they fit perfectly. The only ones that I can find are from Bayou brass currently.

I guess we are talking about the same mold. This was an mp 500 smith and wesson mold. I believe it is called the alley sweeper.

sages outdoors is a great source for gas checks, that's pretty much all they do. if you can get them on the phone

alley sweeper, very interesting name, my dad used to call short barreled shotguns, street sweepers. man, how I miss my old old man

My mold is a brass hollow point MP mold with all the pins.

I need to look for gator style gas checks if I understand the forum correctly.

Gas checks mostly don't make a difference in my experience. Ive use homemade aluminum, hornady, gators, and bayou brass brand checks. Accuracy is pretty much that same with them all. As said above, look at bayou brass and bullets. They seem to be the only ones with gas checks in stock.

Second that, Sages 500 S&W checks fit MP 500 bullets real nice. And Sages has them in stock right now.

I've shot a ton of the Thompson 255 grain GC .44 bullet without a check and couldn't tell a difference . If the bullet is sized to fit your gun it should work without the check , try both ways . How fast do you intend to shoot this bullet ?

do you not size your boolits?
when you size before you do,put you gc on the shank and run them through the sizing die
