I think that it will hunt. I'm using the Lee 250gr fn sized .377" LLA over 23grs of IMR 4198. I had to raise the Redfield rear a bit; I need to lower the ramp dovetail for the front sight( it was a 30-30 originally). 1" group at 40 yards with bead and peep sights- I'm happy.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211017/3a459bbdeee5937452ec7c6187f63e91.jpg

i'd be happy with that.

i got a win m94 in 35/30 that JES did. i can do 1/2"+/- at 100 yards(3 shots/bench) with 200gr rcbs fn gc with 20.0gr of 2400/tuft of dacron.

i have a 2" diamond pattern on my targets and i can shoot 1 1/2" - 2" at 50 yards(3 shots) with a primos bipod(i have only one hand, stroke got me:wink:).

i use a williams fp peep sight and i got rid of my rear sight. well, i have it in my gun junk box. i was going get JES to do a 38-55, but i chose my 35/30 because it sounded cooler!!![smilie=l:

Very nice. From other site on the .35-30.

Historical Notes - Although not widely known, the 35-30/30 is one of our oldest wildcats, having originated around the turn of the century. Its original purpose was to salvage worn-out 32-40 and 32 Winchester Special barrels by reboring these to 35 caliber. General Comments - As a cast bullet cartridge, the 35-30/30, with its longer neck, permits use of cast bullets as heavy as 270 grains seated to a depth that will feed through magazine rifles designed for the 30-30. This is not possible with the 35 Remington and its short neck. In a strong action, the 35-30/30 can be loaded to deliver performance approaching the 375 Winchester. However, in a strong action, the 35 Remington can be stepped up quite a bit, too. It is possible to attain 1,800 fps with a 300-grain bullet in a strong action chambered for the 35-30/30, which would make it suitable for elk or moose at short range. It is a good cartridge for upping the performance of 30-30 rifles or for salvaging worn-out 32 Special barrels. Dies are available from RCBS and chambering reamers from Clymer. Good one mate.
i shoot 20gr of 4198 with a 245gr hard cast out of my 375 big bore, it does the deed on the Deers
this one at 60meters (exit side) DRT.

Yes it is slow for the 375, but i didnt need the extra snap the high 20/30s charge weight gives, i hunt 100m of under seldom much further as the front sight covers up quite a bit of a smaller deer sized animal to be sure.
100m is a long way in the bush-

still early days with such a slower load but i just use it as they did the 38-55 back in the day..
