Has anyone here got any experience with Jeff Peinhardt (Sta-Moly) carbide bullet dies?

There seems to be less and less building them as Ulrich isnt making new dies anymore.

Dave Detsch makes as far as I know the best most accurate carbide rifle dies I know of.

I have 3 sets of his dies and have never shot better bullets. I've been benchrest shooting for the past 40+ years and until my bullets were made on his dies, I honestly never shot so good.

I hope this helps.

Im not sure if he is still making dies though. im also curious what the current pricing is like.

Ive got three of his modified Redding presses that i got from another maker that was downsizing.

What bullets at are you making? Are you cutting your own cores or buying them?

I knew guy that had a set of carbide 6mm dies that wanted $5000 because he said that he knew that they made good bullets!

Yes Detsch is still making die sets out of Pennsylvania. Last I talked with him he's about 1year out on orders. I'm not sure but I suspect he is the only one making high quality jacketed built dies.

His prices are between $2500-3500 depending on 3 or 4 die set. If you need his number let me know.

I have calibers 20 .204, 22 .224 & 24 .243

All of these die sets are amazing.

I also have 3 of conversation Redding presses.

I both cast long cores and then cut.
And buy lead roll wire and cut.

For match it's best to have roll wire and a high quality core cutter.

But that being said I do not think casting your own cores of high quality lead before cutting then squirting them shows any size different on score.

It's just lead roll wire is processed under extreme pressures and one less thing to worry about on end result of your match bullets.

What's the 4th die? I'm thinking squirt die, core seating die, and pointing die. Is the 4th for boat tails?

Boat tail or rebate base on bullet if desired. Anything over 200 yards for match shooting I would go with a boat tail bullet as it does have an effect on bullet drop beyond those yards.

Just my opinion.

I'm looking at 30cal 112-115gr or so flat base for a 30br for 100yd for score benchrest. Thinking 7 or 8 ogive

Hadn’t heard, I guess I should have ordered the set I was talking to him about earlier this year.
