When I was hunting fur for my money when fur was worth money H 414 was my powder for the 22/250. 39 to 41gn for 50 to 55n bullets. Burn rate is about like IMR 4350 but meters better. When you want 4350 burn rate but cant fit enough of the stick powder in the case go to H 414. Being a ball powder it settles better and you can get more weight in the case.

Yup! "Tis good stuff for a variety of cartridges. It's the equivalent of Win 760. Hodgdon still carries it. Regards, Woody

H414 is not only the equivalent of WW760, but IS WW760, according to a "Propellant Profiles" column in an old Handloader magazine. As such, as others have said, it is a good IMR4350 equivalent with better metering. Most sources recommend Magnum primers with H414 or WW760.
I have tried some jacketed loads with it in 7X57 and .30'06, but got nowhere near the velocities claimed for it in the manuals. Maybe mine is just a slow lot, but IIRC, the velocity deficit was 150-200 fps. -JDL

Consider 414 as a lot of 760. In other words, it is 760 plus or minus 2 grains in use. ... felix
