Hey guns. I have a opportunity to buy this Luger. It's a G date S42 and looks to have original finish. It is all matching including the mag. Great bore. What do you think a fair price is?

That thing looks amazing! I'd say, first born and sign on the dotted line, even if the seller has a forked tail. [emoji1787]

I've never seen a S/42 with a matching mag or straw parts. I have a S/42 1939 all matching except the mag with blued trigger etc. The pistol in the photo would sell for $3500 plus on GunBroker...

Not to nitpick, but do you think the wear on the straw parts is consistent with the wear on the blue? I do not, but then I have issues with viewing pics on this forum.

Go to Simpson limited web site and see what lesser specimens are bringing.

I don't think this genre was straw blued. I know, I said the same thing. Looking at other G date Mausers they all seem to have the same look. I even emailed a couple pics to Tom at Legacy Collectables and he didn't mention it. He did note the magazine serial number wasn't lined up perfectly, and there's a chance it was force matched.

I never considered that possibility, certainly anything is possible. I think the 'G' code was a arsenal refinish done after WW2 and supplied to the police...
