I was reading a a post about using fired 209 primers to make percussion caps and lost track of it. Anyone point me towards the right thread?

I would like to have explained how to deal with the very oversized primer cup. It would be very loose on any nipple for no 11s. You could maybe use this in target shooting or plinking with a sidelock where the nipple is mostly upright.Gravity could help it stay on until you fire. Revolver use would be out too. I will pop one out from a fired 209 today and look it over with that in mind. I'm all for making do if it can work.

I removed the primer cup from two 209s.Note that these were fired 209s. I can't think of a way to remove the cups if not fired. If you could they might make good berdan primers The od is .220 and id is .192. They will fall off of any No 11 nipple. Musket nipple ? Could be,maybe .I use the cap maker from 22 reloader. Works good enough and is easier to do.
