I took the day off yesterday from doing usefull tasks and went to Mankato, for coffee at Caribou and shopping at Scheels. They had almost no used guns, except a near mint Remington Berthier rifle. I looked and fondled, looked, and fondled then decided that a $1000 dollar rifle with no ammo available was not going to make my life better. But darn it was pretty and it felt good to hold and handle.

I had never seen one before. I couldn't figure out how to get a picture in the store.

Scheels ammo shelves were full so a brick of CCI 22's and a less expensive scope followed me home.

well done, all around. I think you can get basic brass, standard Lebel?

I wish I could buy one in that condition and price here in France.

Pressman,

I assume you bought that 07/15-I would have in a heartbeat. I have several and cannot do much with them due to health issues. Send me a PM and I will discuss 50 rounds of new brass, a set of RCBS dies and my secret reloading data that I cannot use. I have a few 5-round clips that go with the brass and dies. If interested, I will sell the lot to pay for my radiation treatments.

Adam, I am sorry, I did not buy it. Not knowing much about it and the asking price was outside of my budget for the month I had to pass. It really is a beautiful rifle.

I was lucky enough to find a mint, unissued Remington 1907/15 this side of the pond a few years ago.

The only markings on it, is a 2013 Birmingham Proof mark.

I've seen several Remington Berthiers for sale over the years, and they seem to be either as nearly new in original military configuration, or conversely, as really beat up sporterised rifles.

I remember Springfield Sporters offering Berthier Turkish Forestry carbines at a reasonable price. I didn't get one because 8mm Lebel ammo or brass was practically non - existent in the 1980s. Times are better in the ammo regard nowadays thanks to Privi.

Pressman,

Well, that is OK. My brother came by just after my last post and scooped the dies, brass and clips for his 8mm Lebels.
