Using it a while ago to sharpen the wife’s knives as she’s cutting peppers to can. About half done and the drive wheel (pulley? Sheave?) exploded. Anyone ever had this happen? Repairable?

I emailed the company but since it’s the weekend I probably won’t hear back till next week.

Sounds like you need an alternative method to sharpen the knives. What kind of (soft carbon steel or hard stainless?) knives are you trying to sharpen?

I know of the Work Sharp machines only by reputation as easy to use and effective.
I don't have one. I use a coarse stone to put a rough edge on the knife and a set of crock sticks to put the razor edge on that. Then I touch up with a steel as needed during use.
This has worked for me for decades now.
Actually, I have two stones one is a coarse Arkansas stone the other is a diamond stone. If I need to remove or shape an edge in a hurry, the diamond stone gets used.

I have diamond stones, Arkansas stones, lanskys, oil stones, water stones, ceramic stones, scraper sharpeners and just about everything else. Looking for anyone with experience with the work sharp drive roller breaking. Thanks

Same happened to mine. I contacted them and sent me a new one. Great service. They will ask for the serial number.

ThanksI watched this video showing disassembly and repair using epoxy on the shattered plastic idler bearing roller inside of a work sharp machine.

It's not my video.

I have had the standard Work Sharp for at least 5 years now and it works great. An idiot-proof way to sharpen knives.

Sorry, I can only offer my condolences - my sharpener isn't a machine.

Since my fat fingers don't seem very capable, I've got a close friend who's a wizard at sharpening knives by hand. :)

Just heard back from work sharp. They are sending me a new power base assembly. So nice to see a company stand behind its products!
