I'm thinking this may help someone, somewhere, trying to run cast in their AR.
I've been doing this for a couple years without problems. Powder coat, gas check, full loads. No problems. The few magazines I bought initially all functioned fine for me.
Then I acquired a few used magazines, all the same brand.
In a newly built AR pistol, it took a bit to trace the 1 in 10 feed ramp jams to the magazine(s). But that's what it was. The front lip of these particular magazines was just a little bit higher compared to center of the loaded rounds. A little Dremel time and I mag dumped all 4 back to back with zero issues.
The modified mag is the one on the left.
Those round nosed cast bullets need a little more room than the spire point jacketed the gun is meant to shoot.
Hard to get a good pic but hopefully you can see the difference.
Maybe a different follower would have cured it for me? I don't know.
