I got casting for the first time in many a moon. I mostly was after fodder for the 44 cap and ball, but I also cast up about 60 REALs in 58 flavor. These things are pretty short, but weigh 440 grains a pop. I am hoping to get them to shoot in my Zoli Zouave. Might be hunting fodder next year if they shoot well (ML season is a couple weeks away here and I will be using a .570 ball over 75 grains of OE 1.5F). Anyone shoot these? I believe my zouave is slow twist, so I will use an over powder wad and see what it does, but curious if anyone else has had success. Given the requirement for open sights in my state for ML season and my eyesight, 75 yards or a tad over is probably the range I am looking at.

They should do fine. I have not shot them but had good luck with the Lee minie, 500 gr. It's the one that looks like a civil war minie. It did 4" at 100y, good enough for deer or elk.

The few I have shot in one or more of my .58s show promise. I just have not had time to work up a hunting load but I am confidant I could. I use thick skirted minies and 90 grs of FF or FFF Goex. The beauty of the REAL is that there is no skirt to flair with a heavy load. One caution is to be sure your lead is pretty hot while casting so you get consistent filling of the driving bands for shot to shot accuracy.
In my Buffalo Hunder (sporterized Zouave) I got good groups with the R.E.A.L. using 90 gr FFFg and 100gr FFg Goex. The B Hunter has a .580" bore vs .575" for my Zouave and Musketoon.

The REAL shot the best of anything in my Enfield 2 band musket with the stock powder load of 60gr.
