Does anyone have any experience with these molds? Any information on the bullet they cast?
I should have asked first, but prior to registering I bought a couple of them and am waiting for them to arrive.
Did I screw up, or did I grab a decent mold?

It could be a 358432 but they were listed/sold to me as 358423 molds. I tried to find info on it and couldn't come up with anything. Supposedly dual cavity molds if that helps.

If they end up actually being 358432 molds, is there any verdict on that? I'll put the search function to use here and probably answer my own question.

From what I can figure out the 423rd standardized Ideal/Lyman mold was the 452423 (238gr WC) so that would probably indicate that the molds I bought were mislabeled and are actually 358432 molds.

If that is the case then that would leave me with the potential to receive either a 148gr or 160gr WC mold.

That would explain why that mold number didn't yield any results when I tried the search function.

My apologies for the confusion.

If you got 358432 molds I think you'll like them. They are a bit different than the usual full wadcutter.

A "standard" wadcutter is supposed to seat flush with the case mouth or pretty close to flush. With the 358432 you'll still have about a 1/4 inch of boolit outside of the case.

I believe the best description is a "flat nosed" semi wadcutter if that makes any sense to you.

I have a single cav 358432 and may put it to use in some old 38 S&W rounds as mine seems to pour out at .362 or so. boolit weight wioll most likely be 160 grains!

You'll find this mold has a small but very strong ( and vocal) following!

Makes perfect sense!

I've been doing some reading and I do believe you are correct.. there's a definite following, and it seems to be a pretty good bullet for alot of things.. within range limited reasons...

I have one of these in a " 4 banger " . A very nice mold, mine doesn't have the word Lyman written on it anywhere. Mine says " IDEAL ", it's an old one !

Although my mold is OLD, it cast remarkably consistent bullets with few rejects.

WOW!! That's a NICE looking mold Ben!

Does the 148gr 358432 shoot any different than the 160gr 358432?

Now you wouldn't want to part with it would you?

I know.. I know.. a mold that nice.. chances are the answer is a hearty "Nien!!!!"

Got a favorite load for those bullets/boolits?

I'm going to have to sit down and spend a MONTH with a printer, a case of paper, some note books, and enough ink pens/pencils to cause a whole grade school of kid's hands to cramp up and start taking some serious notes from everything on this site so I can reference it out later. Just too much amazing information and people here, that sadly when you're all gone... it is too. Hopefully I can keep some of it alive for my boys, and their boys, and theirs.......
