I know this is way off our usual topics but I know our interests span over many areas related to all forms of reloading so hopefully I'm not too far out of bounds.

I have an old Pacific shotgun press, model DL-105. I think 20 GA if that matters and it is missing the powder and shot bottles. I'm hoping someone here might know of suitable substitutes or improvisations that might work, maybe even some spare unwanted parts ? I enjoy gaining utility from old neglected things, maybe that is why I seem to now have about 6 Lyman Tru-line J presses!

I think i have one spare. I got a new old stock one a few years after Hornady bought them. One of the bottles was broken. I gave them a call and I think they sent me two. It will be a day or two before I can look.

Go to the hardware store and get 2 of the pump spray bottles.
The ones that are wide at the bottom and taper to the top thread.
The thread is the same as the DL-105.
I have 3 of these presses and they all use the spray bottles. just use a step drill to make the hole in the bottom for the plugs.

I remembered seeing DL-105 with MEC bottles and a quick google search showed that they will work, but it is not a 100% perfect fit.

My DL-105 has MEC bottles on it they work ok but they are not quite right. I think I will check out some spray bottles next time I Get a chance.
thanks for the idea Ausglock. Never even thought about spray bottles.

problem with the spray bottles is the new powder will eat them

I've been running red dot, Win WST, Universal, 800X etc etc for a few years and the spray bottles are fine.
And they are cheap to replace $1 at the hardware store..

I use 1 liter pop bottles with a hole cut in the base to pour in the powder and shot

The bottles seem to hold up to the powder

If you know someone who works in a lab see if they can get the quart or pint plastic bottles reagents come in. I used to get reagent bottles at work. They have the same thread as the MEC bottles, and the reagent bottles are heavier plastic than everyday bottles so they hold up better to the weight of shot.
