i just got done with second sporterized 1891 argentine mauser.

i had to cirtistrip it, then i steam ironed the dents and scratches. then i sanded 220, 340 and 420 grit. i ut some old master's wood filler and red mahogany wiping stain. then sanded 340 and 420 grit and bronze wool it. cheesecloth and finally minwax antique oil(7 coats). in between each coat, i bronze wool the stock some more and cheesecloth it. and finally johnsons paste wax.

this will be my old sons rifle. now i have to find a load that shoots. and the first one(my youngest son) too!!!! i have a lee 312185R (185gr rn gc) that will be hp from a fosters 1/16" bit. i have some 4895, but i have over 4lbs of rel7 that will get to 1800-1900fps. i bet the deer don't like it!!!!!!!

Just right for easing through the woods. Great job on the 100+ year old wood.
