I stopped at a sports store in NH yesterday (way up north). For some reason, they always have a good supply of components, guns and ammo (no tax).
Yesterday, I got:
Tight Group - $26.00
IMR 4227 - $40.00 (ouch)
CCI Small Rifle primers (1000) - $80.00 (not too bad).
Why they have a supply, I have no idea.

They had a Stoeger Contender o/u .410 (new) at a good price, but I know nothing about Stoeger shotguns.
The flip release lever for this shotgun did not line up completely straight with the barrels when closed. The salesman said that was normal on some new shotguns.
Is it normal?

Stoeger is owned by Benelli. I have (or had an auto 3 in. 12 gauge), until claimed by the oldest grandson. Nice, smooth action. It was made in Turkey. All the reviews are positive as I remember. The O/U's, I don't really know about. Heard some of the 20 ga. had issues--that's just what I heard, no real proof. Depending on the price, I might take a chance on it.

I inherited a MEC .410 loader and hundreds of factory rounds. I have a Mossberg bolt action .410 and a single shot break open 410. but this o/u looked good. Cabelas and a few other places sell them but every place is out of stock (for the same price).

Most new shotguns levers are canted. Normal. Check to see if it opens and locks up.

Here's a review by one person. Edit: Added another.

How far up north? Errol? I bought a nice Stoeger pump there on sale several years ago and it works fine.

Yep, Errol. Nice country.

The gun locks up perfectly. It's just that off centered lever. But the reviews are good. Cabelas and Dicks sell them for the same price, maybe a little less, but they're out of stock.

I feel another 3 hr ride in my future.

The off center lever is deliberate. It is designed to wear in eventually. Don't let that stop you.

Yes this exactly.

I just got my first side-by-side 20 gauge ever, it's been hardly used but made in -96. Well off center lever,to the right.
