Anybody have data for 200 grain loads for the Krag and 160 gr.to 180 grain in the 30-30? I have a quantity of 3031 and want to burn it up. I have plenty of data for more appropriate powders.

I don't think 3031 would be inappropriate for either cartridge. I'll see if I can dig up some data for Krag. Hodgdon's data site has loads for 30wcf using 3031 w/ 170g bullets.

Speer #10 shows .30-40 Krag loads for 200 gr. bullets (JSP) and IMR 3031 starting at 31.0 gr. to 35.0 gr. max.
.30-30 loads IMR 3031 for 170 gr. JSP bullets starting at 25.5 gr. to 29.5 max.

I suppose I should have specified that I was looking for some sub-1800 fps loads. Turns out I found two or three charges in old Ideal HBs. Thanks all for the effort.

311-291 over 26-29 grains of 3031 in the 30-30. Somewhere in there is a load that will make you smile. 28.5 worked for me.

I only have one .30-30 load along that line, using a Lyman 311467 178 grain GCRN, sized .309 with 23.1 grains IMR 3031, OAL 2.484. turn out 1870fps

25 grs of IMR( the only kind)3031 with the C309170F Lee in my bolt action 30-30 is a very accurate load. I use 32 grs in my 30-40 Krag for any weight cast bullet. 3031 has been a favored powder for me since 1972 when I started reloading the 30-30 and 22-250 cartridges. It’s on my powder getting list; at the top as a matter of fact.

There IS NO more appropriate powder for .30-30 than 3031.

3031 is THE most appropriate powder for the 30-30.
