Sometimes it takes a lot of time to develop a load that shoots well. This time I got very lucky with a first try.
35 Whelen, 1:14 twist, Mauser 98 action, Burris scope, 260 gr cast FN 0.359 / 18 gr 2400 / GI brass
Right off the bat the groups were less than 1" at 50 yds and just over 1-1/4" at 100 yds.
no flyers, no tumbling, no leading and the loaded rounds all chamber flawlessly.

The only problem: I bought these cast 260 grainers, many months back, from a fellow member and I have no clue what mold they came from! When I get a chance I will post a picture of the cast boolit and perhaps someone will recognize it.

Ouch.

That is why I don't like buying boolits. With my luck I would find an absolutely perfect load, then be unable to replace it.
