About 2200 FPS with unique and a gas check. 22 hornet performance. Perfect medicine in my rural subdivision. I would leave them alone but they keep borrowing under my garden shed. My neighbor with a big garden does the same. 287616

It’s supposed to be. But it won’t stabilize the 55 grain military M193 bullet. It works with 50, 52 and some plain base 55 grain bullets.

I like it, that pretty Sako can hunt. What scope is on it?

Keeping with the “Colt” theme, it’s a 3X9 Burris made scope for Colt, so it’s marked Colt. Intended for the Colt light rifle produced in 1999.

that is really nice. I need to dig it my heavy bbl 461 in 222 mag. I like your scope too.

Might actually measure the twist. I worked with 3 of them back in the day and had the same problem with M193 in one of them. The earlier one had a 14" twist the other 2 had 12" twists.

I've killed a lot of the woodchucks western cousin, the rockchuck with an almost identical load out 12 and 14" twist 223 rifles and 14" twist 222 Rem rifles. I found with the 12" twist barrels 2200+ fps was the sweet spot and 2300+ was for the 14" twists. I used older COWW ally [pre the need to add tin] WQ'd, GC'd and lubed in a .228 H&I die in 450 lubrasizer with Javalina lube. That left the bullets basically "as cast". Mostly used H4895 with a dacron filler.

Yes Larry, thanks to you, I found out nothing was wrong with my rifle, it just needed the correct bullet. You commented on this before. So using the jacketed bullets you recommended, this gun shoots. I picked up a spare barrel for this gun but again, found out the barrel is fine but just picky about the bullets. That cast bullet load is shooting 3/4” at 50 yards, so good enough for me.

I have a spare barrel marked Colt in 223 for the 461 action and I have a spare colt marked 3-9X scope. Let me know if interested. Using a cleaning rod method with a hard patch, I could see what twist it has.
