Or the other way around, or is there any difference in gas check adhesion?

I like to do a light coat of BLL, apply check. Smack the nose of the boolit with a rubber mallet if required to seat the check well and square, then size and 2 more light coats of BLL.

Check first. You do not need a coat of lube between the bullet and the check.

Lube size and apply check... Re lube.

If I don't apply the GC before PC I would never be able to get it on. Some I tried after PC & it was literally impossible to even begin to get the GC on.

If you're powder coating, do you need a gas check?

It depends on the velocity. At low speeds probably not. I shoot 12 Bhn PC boolits at 1980-2250fps and get sub-MOA. Not trying those without a GC.

I guess it depends on mold, how much PC and what checks. I do it both ways depending on what I'm trying to do, but if possible I like the check sitting out there all nice n shiny hoping they will scrape out any errant residue as it goes on it passes by.

I have had to deburr the bases or expand the checks on occasion though. Gotta love all those handy NOE tools.

For that reason, I gc first, then pc, then resize.

I do both ways,too.

About this "scraping effect", I loaded some rounds with the GC:s only seated (with the Lubrisizer seating tool). You can even see in the pic that the GS's are larger than the bullet. Bullets had been sized, GC:s not. They loaded and shot fine, this is only a 325 grainer. Standard 470 NE is 500.

Do they actually "scrape"? All I know is I cleaned old copper out of this gun for two days, using Bore Tech products and it's fired only cast ever since. A few weeks, 150 rds. The other day I did a deep clean and some blue came out... from gas checks, maybe?

So many options in this sport.

Petander,

sounds like unsized scraping is a bad idea. They say copper in the barrel is a lead attracting magnet, we don't need any of that.

Subject shift, is that a recent pic? I've been wondering when your world turns white up there in your neck of the Finland woods.

Yes copper is bad. But even a sized GC leaves some miniscule amounts of copper doesn't it? Those Bore Tech products find it all...

Yes it's a recent pic. No permanent snow in my area ( 62 N )yet, drive a few hours up north and there is snow and frozen lakes.
