even I got cornfused'''Ok To make it more simple..with the rim rock cast
bullet..240 grain shot from the henry lever action using 44 mag loads
this bullet shot terrible,,,But when I USED the same bullet in the SAME
rifle with 44 special loads it shot great..Is the bullet going too fast from
the magnum load causing poor accuracy ..or what the hell..Using 2400 powder..

I'm easily confused sometimes, but are you speaking about using 2 separate firearms?

You are not the only one who is confused.

I don't know what a rimrock bullet is. im guessing a precast bullet you bought. what size is it. it could bit its just a bit too small. I lube size 44 bullets to .431 and specials and magnum shoot just about as accurate as one another in pistol, and a a few different rifles.
ive never ever tried a smaller diameter cast bullet smaller than .431 because I am in fear of barrel leading and fortunately they chamber without problem in guns I shoot them in and, knock on wood, no leading

I think the OP used a special case and load in the mag chamber, but not sure. Maybe a few more details would help.
But to answer the question in general terms only, I just finished some chrony work on 38 special, 44 special, 44 mag and 45 colt.
We wanted to load to 1000 for the long guns and test for 25/50 yard accuracy on steel swingers as well as find and accurate load we could shoot in handgun and rifle combos.
Short answer is 750/775 in single action handguns equals 950/1050 in 20 and 24 inch longguns.(in general) This 750 to 1000 correlation between the two guns is not the most accurate either gun will produce but good enough for swingers.
In the case of the 44 special in a Ruger 4-5/8 flattop with a .432-240 SWC on top of 5.0 grains of Bullseye is a one hole load at 25 yards and very accurate out to just beyond 100 yds. To the best of my memory it is clocking over 850. Now same everything just switching to a Rossi 92, 24 inch, 44 mag rifle, same results, extremely accurate.//// now switching to the 44 mag case, in the rifle it took 6.0 grains of bullseye to get close the accuracy of the special case in the mag rifle. Keep in mind these are just plinking loads in general. If I wanted a super accurate hunting load in the mag case your 12.6 grains of 2400 would not be where I would start. 2400 is a fine powder for 44 mag but it will need to be in the 1200 fps range to be accurate based on my hunting loads. My fav for that level is 4227, or 2400 or H110.
Generally speaking for large volume cases and light to mid-range loads I prefer fast pistols powders, but they will only get you so far on velocity before the pressure gets too high. I hope this answers your questions.

Diameter is crucial with the Henry BB. I tried some store bought HSM Cowboy loads (mostly because they used brand new Starline brass) and they actually key-holed at 15 yards. Blew me away! Oregon Trail laser cast .431" 204 swc's stacked in one hole at that range. The HSM Cowboy loads were .429".

Henry BB= Henry Big Boy, a 44 Magnum 20" carbine made by Henry USA, Rice Lake, Wisconsin
Rimrock is a cast boolit seller located in Polson, Montana.
The 44 Magnum is a cartridge created by Smith and Wesson and Remington in 1956 at the behest of Elmer Keith.
The 44 Special is a shorter but otherwise dimensionally identical cartridge created by S&W cerca 1908.

The OP writes that his 44 magnum load with 2400 is inaccurate but that a lighter load in 44 special is accurate and wonders what velocity increase he can expect in his rifle with a 12.6 grain charge over some unstated data, presumably derived from a handgun of some sort. I fear that any answer I may give will not be accurate as my Marlin is a CB 24 inch barreled model. But...13.2 grains of 2400 in my rifle in a 44 special W-W case with an RCBS 44-245 KT that allegedly weighs 240 grains gave me a velocity of 1106 fps for 5 shots with an SD of 37, with fair accuracy. YMMV.
