Brown Bess flintlock musket, which is better, Pedersoli or Miroku?
I don't even know why I want one, but the same place has one each at the same price. By better I mean lock quality, spark, authenticity...
I remember when Dixie Gun Works had Miroku and they bragged about the ''shower of sparks'' they threw, not sure about Pedersoli.

.
Yer gonna be in a quandary, since both company's fit/finish is just about equal.
It might come down to which one is readily available.....

The same place has both in stock, and at the same price. Hence, the quandary.
If the rifles are both available and the same price range.
You may look into availabity of replacement parts.
If you plan to keep a rifle for a long time , something will get worn or break.
It also makes the resale value a little better if you ever decide to move on to something else in the future.

I'd pick the Pedersoli. They still make them.

A lot to be said for that in itself.

Whenever presented with this dilemma, I always bought both! I was never wrong.

lol
I've got a Pedersoli brown bess, 1980's production.
Used as a film prop and gun, used and abused as hard as they come, rain, hail, snow and everything in between, dry fired too many times and shot a lot of blanks.
Frizen is still spot on, gun is still tight as a drum. Throws great sparks with a good flint ;)
The pedersoli's are the best brown bess ever made.

I don't know if this will help...I have a Miroku flintlock pistol. The mainspring broke and I had to get a Traditions spring and file the sides to fit. I did eventually find the correct spring. I don't know if they are still available. I guess if the barrel and the stock are nice you could always replace the entire lock if you had to with a nice one.

Yes, Pedersoli it shall be based on parts, (possible availability) and what I believe to be over all quality.

I don't need two of them. Maybe one carbine and one musket...
Don't forget to buy a pistol too
