I am looking for a chart of what size to cut molds

As I have been cutting some molds for myself and a few friends
I just got ask to make a mold that drops a .478 bullet
He has a BFR .475 Linebaugh pistol and wants to start feeding it cast Bullets

So I was looking for a chart that lists most if not all the normal sizes of molds
I want a "Cut This Size" chart

Thanks
John

Not sure if this will help but looking through my Lyman cast book I see the bullets are sized to .476 " Not only that 1 is gas checked wit L2 alloy and the other no GC, however that one requires a fairly hard (linotype alloy) So what he is asking is cutting a mold 3 thou over size.

Should be doable. You don't say how heavy he wants it.
As far as a chart I'm almost positive that would be proprietary info. This is getting into the art side rather science side of the game.
The guys at NOE molds show bullet dimensions but not sure about cutting dimensions. I would start there for comparisons.
https://noebulletmolds.com/site/bullet-dimensions2/458-2/ (different size than what you need but good reference)
May have to be just trial and error.
I watched Iraqverteran8888 on oiytube and a friend cut a cherry for an obsolete rifle round and the machinist worked at it for some time.
So he cut it, then tested it for drop size. Then cut it some more. You can always cut the mold bigger but you can't go back.
The cherry is just the ogive profile and lube groove profile anyway, the rest is just offsetting the tool to correct diameter.

If you get it close to where you want you can finish it by lapping (lementing) it out that last 1/2 thou. I've modified a mold that way.
Sounds like an interesting project.
You may have to make him a sizing die as well.
Please post about how things turn out. Good luck!

I doubt you'll find a chart but there's some good info here:
