Neither, I'd take the NOE 310-165-FN. AKA the 30 XCB.

I’ll agree with Larry here. Very accurate in my .308 even at 2400+FPS.

I would take the RCBS 308-165-SIL Bullet Mold because I've had and used it for over 20 years. And - every time I go to the NOE web site looking for the NOE 310-165-FN (AKA the 30 XCB) it is out of stock.

I also have the RCBS 308-200-SIL; since I shoot more .308 than other 30 cals; I find it not as useful as the 165 Sil.

I like the 188gr "Hunter" boolit. Will have to try out the XCB boolit next, see if it will go under 1/2"@100yds

I use the 308-150 SP RCBS in my spanish 7.62x51 FR-7 and spanish 1916 neither one likes heavy slugs

I like the RCBS 30-165-Sil in the 308, but my other favorite in that caliber is the Lyman #311299.

If those are your only choices then I'd pick the 165SIL. Bullets from that mold were the first cast bullets I fired in my rifle (Montana Bullet Works) and their accuracy convince me to get into serious bullet casting for rifles.

For my .308 I picked the XCB and the Accurate 31-210E, a copy of an Eagan design.

Wally, Between the two you listed, I would say the 165SIL. I have that mould and boolits from it performed very well. However, you know me and my need for speed whilst casting, so I would continue to use my 6cavity clone of Lyman's 311041, which drops nice boolits of 180g depending on alloy. :coffee:

Not a RCBS mold but my Parker Hale 308 likes the Lyman 311291. Been using it for over 40 years.

I used the RCBS 30-165SIL for quite a few years without complaint and still keep a supply on hand for my Swiss rifles and '06 to feed the Garand but it's no longer my first choice in the .308s. For those, I haven't found anything better than the Arsenal 30-188PC; a long-nose bore-rider quite similar to the Lyman 311299. Consistently produces 1" groups @ 100 and, if I'm having a good day, stays within 1 1/2" @200. Not the easiest to cast and requires nose-sizing but end results are worth the extra effort.
