Hello All,

There was another thread somewhere where someone asked this question. But I can’t seem to find it with the search bar.

Is there a use for .223 or 5.56 in making jackets? I thought maybe cutting the top portion off and using it as a tube for e.g., 9mm might be possible with the right dies?

There’s so much .223 and 5.56 that ends up in recycling. I just wondered if there’s a way to use this free resource.

Thanks

if its good brass, sell it. if its got neck damage it can be chopped and used for 35 cal stuff like 357mag or 38, you might get it down far enough to make 9mm, never tried that.

They work pretty good for bullets for my 350 Rem Mag and my 358 Norma.

It can be reloaded, converted to 300blk or used for a variety of bullet jackets. Sell it or give it away, someone will use it.

It cab be used for making .308 jackets, not optimum - but doable. BT Sniper had a post a few years ago where he made .308 jackets from the bottom; and 9mm from the top portion of cut down .223 cases. Could not locate it so I am not able to provide a link.

223 brass is usually right around .375”
Can make 375s of any weight with a minimum of fuss.

Actually both the above are correct, I have seen where the base is used for 375 and neck end used for 9mm. A two for one so to speak. Regards Stephen.
