11mm mauser cases

What cases can be used for the 11 mauser cartridge?. Just curious. And I have one of the little French musketoons with short barrel. Any advice about that one?. Thanks in advance. Frank

Are you positive that your French rifle is Mauser or 11x59Rimmed French Gras.

If it's the French Gras, then cases can be made from 348win cases pretty easily. I have shot some. I posted a thread about it here many years ago.

Actually two questions. 11 or 43 mauser is one I was asking about making cases for.
Second is for one of the little single shot musketoons made by France and has the M80 modifications. Sorry for the confusion on my part. Frank

.45-90 case can be formed to .43 Mauser in one pass. Depending on your chamber, you might not have to trim shorter. Mine fit full length. Also going to need that relief cut on rim.

Reason I ask about either the 11mm or 43 mauser is that I'd like to get either the 1871 mauser or the 71/84 but the biggest thing is cases. Have a lathe so could make a mandrel that fits in the chuck and cobble up something to fit in the primer pocket to center the case to cut the bevel on the case rim. My 1874/80 musketoon has the 1880 mods done to it. Thanks to all whom answered my post. Frank

The ones I bought from Buffalo Arms some 25 years ago were made from 348 WCF brass. They had the "A" base turned into them and I believe they had to reduce head diameter a few thousandths. I've been shooting them ever since.

45-90 works and some guys make or have made a die to actually bend the rim forward for headspace. It works and I've done it for other case based off the 11.15 X 60R.

45-90 for 11mm Mauser. YouTuber CapandBall has a great video on how he forms them.

For the French gras, I use 50-110 necked down. 348 Winchester expanded up also works. Both have a smaller rim than 11x59r, so extraction varies.
