Has anyone used a Lee 311-93-1R in a muzzleloader instead of a Lee .311 patched round ball? Details if you have, please. Thanks!

Mighty hard to get them to bump up enough to seal the bore, even cast from pure lead. Muzzleloader barrel usually has a .320" bore and a .311" bullet is really loose. They fit better paper patched but I've never gotten any repeatable accuracy by trying that. A couple would shoot OK but most were fliers or keyholed.

I was planning to use a regular patch lubed bullet with TOTW mink oil. The Lee mold is cheap enough to play with and being retired I have enough time. If all else fails I can put it up for sale. I will be using a patched round ball most of the time, but I just wanted to play with the bullet. Thanks.

Sounds like an 8mm cast Boolits might fit your bore better if it is .320 dia.
I have several 8mm molds , but I think the lightest is 180 grain.
But 8mm slugs might be something to look into if you can find a lighter Boolits mold.
What is the Twist Rate on your barrel.
You might need a Fast Twist barrel to get heavier Boolits to shoot well.

LAGS'
Thanks for the info, but I just wanted to play around with a small light bullet.

Accurate molds has 32 cal molds that start at 65 gr. and go up in weight. You might find what you are looking for there.

@ Buzzard 11.
I wish I could find them , but somewhere around here I had a bunch of .32 lead Hollow Base Wad cutters from years ago.
They might work as a mini in your .32

I am planning on buying a .32 flintlock in the near future.
But I haven't decided on which one I want to get or if I want to buy a Kit.
Does anybody have any recommendations ?

I don't know if they make 32's but you might check out the Kimber kits. They are excellent I hear and very close to a finished product.

I have a traditions 32 cal. Deer hunter, and did a fair amount of experimenting with a Lee 32 was cutters...it works, but requires thick paper patching. I've never completed the transition, but I bought an 8mm mold with the intent of plugging the nose portion for shortening the bullet for m.l. purposes. Should function for squirrel distances, if I ever get to it...... haven't shot that particular rifle in better than ten years!

I used to have some .32 cal hollow based, swaged, wadcutters from one of the major mfg.'s. I need to try then in my Traditions and TC .32's.
