I know the RCBS 200gr w/gc is "the" bullet for the 35 Remmy. I'm getting set to order the mould for that very thing but was curious as to what else was out there and got to lookin at the #356 and #395 Saeco moulds. Both 200gr fpgc but intended for handgun silhouette.

Also while not Saeco, how about the Lyman #358315 200gr rngc?

Has anyone here tried any of these?

I'm kinda partial to Saeco from past experience with their reloading dies.

Hi Scott,

I haven't had a bad Saeco mould so don't see how you could go wrong.

I bought the 2-cavity Ranch Dog 190 grain and am getting 1-1/2" 50 yd. groups with it. It feeds great in the Marlin rifles; that's what he made these for.

I haven't had the chance to try the Lyman or the Saeco that you mentioned though.

No problem, select either of those mentioned. Don't forget to consider the 180 grainer Saeco molds. I use them much more often. The truncated cone versions are more accurate at far away smaller targets. The RN versions have more meplat, however. Get the gascheck designs. ... felix

With Sierra 200gr round nose and plain base jacketed bullet my 336 will (after much fiddling) group 3 @1.140" at 100 yd's. I would like to approach that with cast lead. The RCBS even though it is the odd's on favorite is a wad cutter style (to me) which is why I've drug my feet ordering their mould. The Saeco #356 is a flat round nose not too unlike the Sierra which got me to scratching my chin.

Felix, you talking about the #354? If so, what's the diameter of the front band? Also, the OAL w/GC? Thanks!

The Lyman 358315 is shown as being 204gr and is a round nose listed for an autoloader....Remmington? Would like to know OAL for it a well w/GC if anyone knows.

The 354 cowboy is 0.744 long; nose is 0.344 long (crimp); diameter of nose at crimp is 0.359, as well as the driving bands; meplat is 0.230.

The 399 sillywet is 0.783 long; nose is 0.330; diameter of nose at crimp is 0.353 with freebore of 0.010, the driving bands are 0.360; meplat is 0.200.

I've tried two different moulds for Lymans 358315. I could get neither one to shoot anywhere near as accurate as the 35-200-FN above 1600 fps.

I've used the 358315 in a 14" Contender 35 Remington with great success. I used LLA and "NRA" 50/50 and also Felix lube . I "modified" the bullet to make it a flat nose by using a FN top punch and got more terminal performance than when leaving it a RN. RN's would bore straight thru a 19" bale of wet newspapers. The FN's would go about 16-17" and leave a larger "wound channel"
