It's been nearly 6 months since I bought my last lever gun and have succumbed to temptation once again. With all the wet weather we've been having (12 inches or rain in December) I'd been thinking about how a nice weather resistant and easy to carry rifle like my 1894P model would be so nice. Lo and behold, Davidson's gets Marlin to run a batch of stainless, 16¼" barrel, laminated stock 336s. If they ever do a .35 version I would fall for that one too. There is a 1895 .45-70 one available though and budget constraints are holding me back at least until tax refund time. Should be in by Friday and will try to get it to play with Saturday morning. Time to set up the target stands again. Pictures to follow.

I have stainless models in 30/30, 44 mag and 45/70 and would like to see photos of yours too. I usually feel pretty good if it happens to rain or snow while I'm in a stand as the gun is one thing I don't have to worry about as much.

That green and grey laminated stock on the stainless is a great look. I bought one of the old Knight MK 85s for the same reason.

Very nice. I just went to Davidson's and took a look, a retailer in our area will sell at $726 tax included. I want to hit that ACCEPT OFFER button very much bad.:groner:

The pictures! The weather was wet and windy so no range time yet but here it is. I'm not likely to keep those sights though. The hood really interferes with the sight picture being just above the bead and to removing the hood exposes the very fragile plastic glow rod. May try a Brockman set though they are a pricey option. Williams TK foolproof is a great sight and a good rugged partridge front blade may be just the ticket.

Low front hood and green glowing rear sight.

Very nice CA, thank you for the pics. I don't know if you are aware of them but Skinner sights are very reasonable. http://www.skinnersights.com/ I just put four of the front sights on and one of the rear sights. I will outfit the others when funds allow.

C A Plater,
Congrats on your new rifle! I had recently bought the 1895 SDT and like you would love to have both the 30-30 and my 45/70 version, but my wallets too thin to get the 336 SDT. The weather has kept me from getting much range time, but I hope to give it a good workout once the weather lets up a might.
