Aside from its "I killed a deer" gouges on wood, does this 95 look orig?

FS: New, lower price. 1895 Winchester .30/06 - everything original. Lyman elevation adjustable aperture sight. Wood in good condition - notches cut in fore end on both sides. Approximately 50% original bluing. Shoots well. Asking $700.00 which includes shipping. I am open to offers

Got some nice pics of a saddle ring carbine with the upper handguard removed and Lyman Model 21 sight installed. I'll buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where do I send money???

Like Frank505 said, the uppper handguard and original barrel sight appear to be missing. It is hard to tell from the pictures but perhaps someone has scrubbed it up pretty good with steel wool or something to remove a little rust here and there. Looks like a fun gun to shoot and appears to be reasonably priced for a 95 in a desireable caliber.

+2 to what frank505 said. If that Climbin' Lyman is all there and it appears so then that gun is only costing you about 350 bucks! Does look like the barrel sight was taken off and guard removed. No biggy for that money.

One thing with the 95 in 06 though. If it was shot a lot or much with newer high pressure or reloaded ammo then it may have a little set back (increased headspace). You may need to fireform the first shot brass in it by using a med-stiff cast load (20,000-30,000 psi) where the bullet is seated out into the lands to force the case head back against the bolt face during the firing cycle. That will help ensure the brass expands only at the shoulder to provide future correct headspace for that brass in the gun. Good luck

Check headspace. 1895s in '06 are reported to have problems with
excessive headspace. If you load yourself, you can compensate by
not oversizing if it is not crazy bad.

The sight is desirable on that rifle.

Well if it were me and I had the money I'd sure as heck buy it. The sight alone is probably worth about $300 or so. I've one in 30 U.S. aka 30-40 krag. Course bubba had his way with her. Removed barrel mounted sight, cut a dovetail and stuck one of those marlin/winchester elevator buckhorn things on it and stuck a el cheapo buttpad on the stock. But the bbl is in good shape. Just have to slug it and see whats what. Think mine was made in 1915. Check headspace and seat boolits out to hit the rifling to fire form your cases. Have fun, Frank
