Someone probably has. The issue would be a pistol mold which would drop a bullet large enough. I have a single cavity Lyman mold which drops the 195 grain 45 ACP target bullet at .459" as I recall. I haven't had the opportunity to try it under a small charge of Bullseye or Red Dot but have thought about it many times. The closest I have read about which I recall is the 45-70 "Collar Button" bullet, a gallery bullet. I think I remember it weights about 180 grains.
Good Luck,
Rick

I really want to get a collar button mold to save on lead for plinking rounds. If I had a pistol round that was throwing a tad oversized rounds I would do this. Unfortunately I don’t have one. What profile mold are you thinking about?

I’ve loaded .457 round balls in 45/70 cartridges with squib loads…….worked okay!

This question comes up often.

I learned here
that I could paper patch a 200 gr SWC sized
.454 and use it in my 45-70. It's a hoot to shoot,
deadly on close in groundhogs and I just giggle
at the confetti at the end of the barrel.

Another option is to powder coat a 45 ACP boolit
up to proper size. This is a less tedious process.
In either case you can use what you have.

Read the sections about paper patching and
powder coating right here on this site and
get in on the fun!

The "collar button" nick name is often used to describe the Lyman #452389 (Lyman says it's 185 gr.). I don't know if it is still available from Lyman: however, the Accurate #5-180L is available & they'll make it to any diameter requested.
