I went the my extra die box and found a 38 seating die that I am thinking about modifying to a 9mm Largo sizing die.
I have been told that 9x19 or 38 Super dies can work but I want the correct size if I can achieve it.
The seater is slightly smaller than the Largo and the Largo has a slight taper to it.
I am thinking about annealing the die so it will machine easier and since I don’t plan to load thousands of rounds it should last my lifetime!
I may order a reamer and use diamond file to put a taper on it or make a “D” reamer.

When I still had my star's I used standard 9mm luger dies and never had a problem

When I got into reloading 9mm Largo, which I still do, I telephoned Lee and asked if they made Largo dies. At the time they did not make dies specifically labelled 9mm Largo, but advised to use .38 Super dies and said, "It's 99% the same thing". I bought a set of Super dies and they work perfectly as does the ammo. I shoot Astras, Stars, Llamas, all stamped "9mm/.38" and use Largo brass.

That is my next option if this does not work out!

I have had to change plans a little, the hole in the 38 seater die is too big it the steel sizing die will work.
I made the “D” reamer blank today and getting a half degree taper was not that bad!
Next step is hardening the reamer and annealing the die.
So far so good!

I got the die annealed and the reamer hardened!
Next step is to cut the die!

The die is cut and has a nice smooth internal finish!
Now I need some brass to size!
I am waiting on some 9mm magnum brass from Midway to arrive.
I may make a trim die since the reamer does not have any signs of wear!

I sent you a pm, but also, why 9mm Magnum brass and not using the 9mm Largo Brass? Isn't the 9mm Magnum way too long?

Doesn't Starline have 9 mm Largo? Just checked 500 for $115 so no triming needed

I only wanted a couple of hundred pieces of brass, I didn’t want 500.

I sent you a PM with some more details, but Midway has 100 piece lots for sale as well.

I got the 9mm magnum Starline brass that I bought from Midway and the case goes right into my homemade sizing die!
Waiting on the Largo brass to do some loading so I will have ammunition when the rifle arrived!

I got my Largo brass today!
Thanks for the heads up that Midway had it in stock!
Now to load some ammunition to be ready when the rifle arrives!

The RCBS #16 works well with the Largo brass, the LEE #19 is too sloppy !
I have 50 rounds loaded and waiting for the rifle to arrive!
