I believe all of the powders listed will function safely in modern lever action 45-70s. Among the following powders, which are the two densest? I've listed them by decreasing burning rates.

Alliant Reloder 7

H4198

VihtaVuori N120

H322

Accurate Arms 2015BR

VihtaVuori N130

IMR3031

VihtaVuori N133

Hodgdon BENCHMARK

H335

Hello and Good afternoon
Do you mean "Which powder is going to fill the case the most"? Or Which powder has the most sold material per cubic mass ?
Now if ya are talking about being just plain dumb... I would need to converse with them first before passing conviction their way. My wife would probably have an opinion about the dumbest involved in the investigation.
God Bless you this Year.

H335 is probably the most dense being a flattened ball powder. Being the slowest it can be velocity challenged though. It does real well with the heavier, 450 grain plus boolits. I'm not familiar with the VV N133. I do use a whole bunch of H322 and some Benchmark. Both are similar in density and you get alot of velocity per grain. Top end loads for 350 to 420 grain boolits. Reloder 7 does pretty good with 300 to 420 grain boolits. Because of its faster burn rate you don't need near as much for acheiving the same velocity as with H322. Pressure is also lower with RL7 verses H322 when velocity is matched. IMR 3031 uses similar charge weights as H322 and BM, but is a tad more bulky than either. I use them all and look for the most accurate one. All of these powders benefit by being ignited with Federal 210M match primers.

The bullets my hunting-reloading partner and I are nickel-******* with are 425-480 grains. When loaded to correct overall cartridge length, there's not a lot of room for powder.

Benchmark has produced fantasic results for me. Min book load will fill the case to where you think by looking at it, it would be a compressed load. Have not ventured past Min book for 420gr boolit, really no need for this part of the world.

I've listed the densities below in red. Densities are in grains per cc...

Alliant Reloder 7 13.736

H4198 12.626

VihtaVuori N120 13.055

H322 13.793

Accurate Arms 2015BR 13.699

VihtaVuori N130 About 12

IMR3031 13.123

VihtaVuori N133 12.987

Hodgdon BENCHMARK Don't know

H335 15.504

You may want to look at AA2230 15.221, WW748 15.267, BL-C2 15.504, and AA2460 15.244. All are (slightly) faster than H335.

LEE Volume Measure Density Chart (http://www.leeprecision.com/cgi-data/instruct/VMD'S.pdf)
The Smaller the number ,the more dense it is.Invert the numbers for grains/CC

I have had very good results with 57.0 W748 under the Rem or Speer
Jacketed 405 or the RCBS cast 405 GC Boolit. Accurate and at ~1750 fps
plenty of power. I light it with a Fed magnum primer for consistency.

.............Just so ya know, good ole IMR3031 will do all you or your 45-70 rifle can stand with a 405gr slug.
