Don't have time (desire) to make my own bullet lube and would like to purchase lube meeting this formula. Can you point me to a source? Thanks

Beeswax 48%. Paraffin 48%. Carnuba flakes 1%. Lanolin 3%. dye 1%.

The percentages don't add up, 48+48+1+3+1=101%.

If you just want to buy your lube, check out "https://www.lsstuff.com/", they will have what you need. Great people to work with, call them and tell them of your needs, they will help you.

Third recommendation. When I don't make my own Ben's Red, I order from Glenn at

oy, that's gonna be a hard lube.

you sure you want 48% paraffin?

Maybe he is thinking that the dye is in addition to the rest of the ingredients?

Thanks guys.....did a cut/paste of the formula must be the dye put it over the top, but it works great for me.(reduced smoke, no leading, hard, accurate). I have been working with Carnauba Blue from LSSTUFF but it appears to be too soft (smoke, sticky bullets)..I'll contact LSSTUFF to see what else they have.

BTW: 38 SPL handgun at 960fps cast bullets.

Try Lar's Red............little harder than the Blue. However, your going to need a heater to get it to flow. Carnuba Red is what I use for almost everything. I bulk pack my bullets and have no problem with lube staying in the grooves.

Thanks.....have a heater on my Starline. Not a problem with the lube staying in the grooves...just when handing them during reloading my fingers get lube transfer. Doesn't happen with the other formula.

I prefer a soft lube, but when I want something a bit harder, I like Carnuba Red by LSSTUFF...but if you are getting sticky boolits with Carnuba Blue, then you'll probably be better off with their "Commercial 160" or 190.
Maybe call Glenn and ask his advice.
That's my 2¢

The Carnauba Red is a little bit stiffer than the Blue. The Commercial Grade 160 is stiffer than that and is what we provide to most of our commercial casters.
The Commercial Grade 190 is much harder and is for the people who miss Rooster HVR.
I'd be more than happy to help.

Maybe I should start another thread...but what heater base temperature do you folks normally lube/size with? I have a Magma Star.

JonB … 40% of my black powder lube is paraffin….an alkane petroleum derivative with a long hydro carbon chemical chain

With Carnuba Red, I set my temperature to about 105 degrees, for my Star. I just lay a dial thermometer probe on the heater base.

I use 70% Bee wax, 28% lanolin and 2% carnauba flakes. Works well with BP and it seems to work well with pistols but, it is "dirty".

Hey now...I think I like it! I use 60% Beeswax, 30% Jojoba oil, 10% lanolin but I kinda like all that sheepfat. I will definitely try that!
For anything smokeless I use Magma lube...highly recommended by my deadpan friend at Magma engineering.

9 parts beeswax, 6 parts soft paraffin from a candle making site, and 3 parts 2 stroke oil. Soft but not sticky at all, been using it for BP for 10 years in my Star sizers..
