Can I ask for some help/prayers?

My ten year old grandson, Bodee, underwent open heart surgery today. He was diagnosed with a hole in one of his heart chambers several years ago and the doctors wanted to see if it would close on its own. It did partially, but surgery was finally decided on. I talked to him about a couple of weeks ago, trying to alleviate any fears a child might have. Know what his response was? "Well, if it needs to be done let's do it. God will protect me." How can you argue with that?

He's an extremely intelligent, open little guy, with more compassion than most adults have. He's always concerned about everyone ELSE rather than himself. He's also a darn good shot with the little .22 pump rifle I gave him some months ago. He's going to grow up to be a real man.

He is currently in the ICU and the prognosis looks pretty good, but "Pops" (grandpa) still worries about everything.

Praying for Bodee. I have sympathy with you and your family. I will testify to having the same condition. Dr. told my Mother that I would not live to 14 year old. Boy, did that ever cause me problems and the Dr. was proved to be wrong. My hole in the heart was blocked with a wall flap that grew across the hole. Now look at me, at 86 years old and still going . There were some other problems like Mitral valve prolapse that I learned to deal with. Bodees's surgery will be a permanent fix .I pray that he comes through the surgery with no complications and that God is with the surgeon and Bodee. We have made a lot of progress in the medical profession since back in my day. Praise God.

Your grandson sounds like a very special young man - who has a loving and caring grandpa. Having had open heart surgery myself, he certainly has the right outlook and he will soon be past it and on the road to recovery and may the two of you be blessed with many more years of making memories. Prayers for you 30-06guns, Bodee, the surgical team, and the family. I pray that the surgery went perfect, and the recovery is fast. I pray that this procedure will result in total healing for Bodee. Sorry this is late for the surgery portion, but recovery will be a little longer. The Lord is able and will certainly answer the requests of a little 10 year boy who is so special.
