View Full Version : How I expand the diameter of a cast bullet

I just uploaded a new video about how to expand the diameter of a cast bullet. This can be really handy for testing out an antique gun before ordering a custom mold. In the video I expand a .452" diameter 255gr bullet to .459". The process is the same for any bullet. All you really need is a sizing die that is the size you want the bullet expanded to.

Good video. As he pointed out, this has to be in the sizing die area below the lube holes in the die. If done in the area with the lube holes, the lead flows into the lube holes and they're the very dickens to get out.
This method also works with modifications as a nose first sizing method with lube applied in a second step./beagle

Well that's 12 years too late! Back then I was lurking here trying to figure how to make my Lyman 429421 size UP to .430" in my Lyman Sizer. Since then I've spent a bazillion on Custom Molds. Gee Thanks! LOL

I been wanting to bump up some .45 Long Colt 250 gr LSWC for the 45/70 singleshot. I'm on it. Have all the things required on hand.
