Takeaways: I will definitely be getting more MP molds. This is my first mold that isn't a lee aluminum and had to adjust my technique to the rhythm of the brass. Really have to be on top of cutting sprue right away, wait to long and you really have to hammer on that thing to get it to cut, no lever like on lee 6 cavs. MP is a great mold.... anyone want to buy some lee's?

I have one of the original runs of this mold when it was a two cavity group buy on here. Mihec does incredibly good work. It casts good boolits very easily. Congratulations. That's also a very effective hollow point.

I noticed, after I put it together, there is two different nose cone shapes. What's the difference between the round and pentagonal? I did notice the round seemed to fill out better for me.

The cup HP's open like the one I pictured above. The Penta HP is unique in that when it opens each petal forms gussets under each segment,

makes it difficult to tear one off at high speed.

They are some of the easiest profiles to manage because as they open they get stronger unlike a cup HP that just folds back and gets thinner & thinner until the outer part of the mushroom just tears off.

If I remember correctly, these were around 8 bhn...pretty soft for the speed I ran thembut you can see they held together well, didn't loose any weight.

Later that summer I started plugging the HP's with pure silicone injected with a syringe, helps to prevent clogging on material and the silicone initiates the opening where if you trap air in the HP cavity with a cloth you penetrated, they either don't open or open slightly.

Have the same mold also & run them with an oal of 1.180". Just a fantastic bullet that performs at an extremely high level.

I had a lyman devastator until I got this. I sold the devastator. That penta cavity is absolute money. I have a '92 Puma in 454 casull. Most of the time I'm feeding it this at around 1200 ft per second in a 45 Colt case. It puts things down with authority.

MP is by far my fav mold maker now. I go there first. I also prefer his aluminum offerings over the brass, but I have both and love them all.

Yes, pure...it firms up good but pliable and doesn’t shrink.

I do not have any trouble with that mold and cutting the sprue. If anything I have to wait to make sure its not molten anymore. It always cuts very easily on the first try with any handy stick or even just a gloved hand.

I used to have alot of trouble with getting the LEE 200 SWC to feed in my 1911. It was the first time I had cast anything and I had all kinds of typical beginner problems both with the casting and the loads, causing problems with feeding and not chambering.

So I bought the MP452-200 HP and slowly learned how to resolve all the problems I had over about 1000 rounds and a few months of casting with it.

Now I've gone back to the LEE 200 SWC just a few days ago and cast with it with my new skill level. Chambers perfectly, no feeding issues, and a very accurate group. I will be making plenty more of the LEE 200 SWC now.

As far as the MP452-200 HP being superior, I cant really see any important difference between it and the lee. They both seemed to produce fine boolits now that I know what I'm doing. The MP452 does seem to have some more expensive features like the venting on the faces. But, you are paying $120 versus $60 for the Lee.

Of course, the most important thing about the MP mold is that its a hollow point, which lee does not offer in 45ACP.
