I put a table spoon in a thin stainless pan (I used a small dog water bowl) heated it till it melted. Then I gave it about 30 sec to cool. Put in about 6 to 8 boolits at a time ,then roll them around in the wax. The wax will fill the lube line fast being the boolits are cold. If the wax is too hot it will wont to coat the entire boolit and not stick in the lube lines. The pic them out with someting and let them rest fot a day. Place them on wax paper NOT ON TOP OF THE TABLE THE WIFE WILL HAVE YOU CLEANING OFF THE TABLE AND IT DOES NOT COME OFF EASY!! Besure to put the gas checks on first. wipe off the extra with a shop rag and your ready to go.:castmine:

You're gonna have to size it down a bit to get it in that case. :kidding:

It fits the case fine. I've loaded up a batch already, shoot great no presure problems. They hit almost as hard as my 458 winmag using 500gr soft points. I got them going at about 1600fsp and if I did the math right the cup pressure is 26,976.:holysheep Not bad for a for a old work hourse.

I got the phone number written on your hand, but I can't make out the area code.

If that statement makes you think I pay attention to detail, you are correct. Since your bullet is lubed and gas checked, I can't see enough detail to give you a critique of it's 'quality'.
But, if it pleases you, it's good enough.

Who do I get when I dial that number...some old hourse doctor?

It's a NEI Precision Cast Bullet Mold. Description is .458-440-GC. But using ww it come in at 464gr, die .460, and it 1.127" tall, with a nose dia of .350. From nose to crimp ring is .430. It a single cavety mold, I opped for the alm mold a little cheaper than the steel ones. He even makes custom molds to your specs.

Heheh Good ol' NEI # 346 .

I load that boolit to mid 1600 fps . Recoil is "stout" yes but but it is a slow recoil . I have loaded that boolit to 1800 fps and the recoil combined with fast muzzle rise makes for "painfull" shooting .

1600 fps with a 470gr 45 cal boolit is more than enough gun for any critter I plan on shooting . Including critters that bite back .

Anouther good tag line I've seen goes something like this : A small bullet going fast is still a small bullet . A big bullet going slow is still a big bullet ! There is no substitution for cubic inches !"

It's a Wild West of Ak. It was only $150 but it's made like a tank.
