View Full Version : MP .357 Carbine Mold

I got this mold down for the first time this week. Too many things going on so I haven't cast with it yet. Can anyone that has this mold or remembers the GB, tell me the expected weight. I'm not interested in variations due to alloy, just expected or calculated weight.

I've started working with a couple of 92 style lever actions. A Browning B92 in .44 Mag and a Rossi .357 Mag. and would like to start investigating possible loads in my manuals.

Just as I indicated in the title, 357-CARB with GC centered below. All on the left half of the mold across from the sprue plate pivot screw.

Only other ID on the mold is "MP MOLDS" on the side.

sorry , the carb threw me off so i didnt recognize it as the mould lable.
youve prob been to the site and seen ;
180 grain solid
Large HP at 171
Small Hp at 176 grain
Cup Hp at 177 grain

likely those are plain base numbers.
If this is no help, least its another bump to the top.

Before you replied I remembered that I usually record the calculated weight when I enter it into my mold spreadsheet. Sure enough there was the weight(180gr). Now to cast a few and see if it works. Most of these rifles have a slow twist barrel so I don't know if the 180 grainers will work.

I've got an article by Junior Doughty(sp?) that details his work with heavy boolits in the Rossi. I'll start there. Junior was quite an experimenter in addition to his interest in blues music.

Id be interested in seeing your mold spreadsheet . Not your data , just what fields there are to populate.
