This is a longshot. Looking for a cartridge cutoff spring for my Mossberg model 51 made in 1939. One tab was broken off and I rigged it up the best I could but it's just glued on for show. I have looked all over and can't find it. I'm trying to get the rifle in shooting condition for plinking and it does have feeding issues. I'm just trying to get it replaced. Thanks for looking but I feel I'm out of luck on this one.

You might try Lee's in Irving, if you haven't already. Good luck.

I have, and no luck. Thanks. I'm hoping someone here has one in their forgotten stash. Thanks.

I don't think this is it, but maybe can be made to work.

Someone here should be able to repair it.

I've got that complete outer tube setup with that part, however, it will not fit the stock without cutting some of the stock to recess the assembly. I just don't want to modify that stock unless as a last resort. I would like to find the spring as shown in my OP if it takes a bit of hunting. It's going to be a long shot but I gotta try.

I'm guessing the one you have is the earlier version.
Looks like one of the fingers broke off.
I couldn't find a picture of the newer spring to see how it looked.
But it must look something like the one you have.
I would start a thread in the .22 or gunsmith section.
I'm sure someone would know a fix.
Mod doesn't like discussions here.

I understand abunaito, however, they may not like me moving it to another section if I'm "wanting to buy" which is why I posted it here.

Mods, feel free to do whatever you think is appropriate.

Bump for a worthy cause, cause I still have not found one and don't want it to get lost on the back pages.

I have looked at the above suggestions an hit a dead end. If anyone has a suggestion please PM me to avoid unnecessary discussions.

Thanks for looking.
