I have a 10” 357 hotshot and I like the barrel for 357 mag nuclear loads. I would like to make some hotshot copycat loads but don’t know where to even start. Has anybody tried it and found things that work? Supposedly the Speer capsules and the hotshot choke don’t get along very well so I’m thinking something akin to a paper mache cup or perhaps some fiddling around with drinking straws.

I have tried Speer capsules in 44 Hot Shot barrel.
They worked fine.
They should work in 357.
You need the Hot Shot seating die to seat Hot Shot or Speer capsules correctly.

I have no problems seating or shooting the 38/257 Speer capsules. They pattern better in the snub nose 38 than the 6 in 357.

Another with a 10" TC Contender HotShot barrel in .357. I've loaded the Speer Shot capsules using both .38 SPL cases and .357 Mag. Couple years ago when I was actually home for a hunting season. Took several gray squirrels in the backyard at 15 yds. Patterned the hotshot choke and my gun gives a 6" pattern without holes in it.

Considering how easy it is to find .357 Hot Shot capsules these days (Not), I would look at the sticky in this section and modify the design for your length.
May work, may not, but it is better than not being able to find a shot capsule at all.
